Congratulations to Emily Morrison, who became Reed-Custer's first state champion in the Illinois Drafting Educator's State Contest held at ISU. Emily beat out 17 other competitors in the Introductory Board Drafting Division. Congrats Emily on your 1st place finish! Emily is pictured with her drafting teacher, Mr. Scott Ward.

Amanda Murphy and Ryan Johnson were honor at the IPA (Illinois Principal's Association) Three Rivers Region Student Recognition breakfast. The annual event was held on Friday, May 4th at the Rialto Theatre in Joliet. Congratulations to Amanda & Ryan and thank you for representing RCHS as some of the top outstanding students in our region. Amanda was also just recognized as a National Merit Scholar and is one of 8,300 students selected out 1.5 million who entered nationwide!

The 2011 RCHS Yearbook has been inducted into the Walsworth Gallery of Excellence.
The Gallery of Excellence is a showcase of the company’s top yearbooks. Gallery books demonstrate true mastery of a yearbook’s purpose - to provide thorough coverage of the school year with interesting stories that highlight all types of students using well-written copy, stunning photography and trendy design. Only a small percentage of yearbooks published by Walsworth enter the Gallery each year.
Along with this honor, many students and advisers will have the opportunity to see the yearbook. Gallery of Excellence yearbooks are used as examples by the Walsworth sales representatives nationwide. These books are loaned to schools to use as idea generators, and are often displayed at regional, state and national conventions and workshops. Spreads from many of these yearbooks are used as illustrations in Walsworth’s resource materials.
The selection of the 2011 Comet Yearbook is an acknowledgement of the staff’s dedication to producing a high-quality publication.
